Domain Name Registrations

A domain name is just like your street address or postal address but on the Internet. It tells people where to find your website. A URL [Uniform Resource Locator] is the entire address you see in the web browser [Internet Explorer etc].

You do not own a domain name; you own the license to use the domain name for a given period of time. Owning a business name does not give you rights to the matching domain name, however, if you own a registered trademarked name then you do have rights to the matching domain name, even if someone already has registered the domain name.

EXAMPLES
A domain name:
ezy4ucarts.com
A web address:
www.ezy4ucarts.com or http://ezy4ucarts.com
A URL:
http://ezy4ucarts.com/pages/contact-us.htm
An email address:
your-name@ezy4ucarts.com

With all the good domain names being snapped up, now is the time to get your name before someone else does! The great thing is that you do not need to get it hosted straight away - you can just get it for safe keeping. Some people purchase domains name for the sole purpose to resell to make a profit so thousands of domain names will never be used.

You can also renew your domain name registration with us - just make sure you do it BEFORE your domain registration expires to keep your website live.

There are no regulations on most domain names so anyone can register. If you are in Australia there are strict regulations. READ THESE HERE

Which Domain Name Is Best?

There are many things to consider before you choose your domain name. Many companies/individuals own more than one name to direct traffic to their main site, so do not limit yourself to only one. You should also consider ALL the extensions to protect your brand as a competitor can easily purchase the .net name, the same as your .com and your customers may get confused if they rank higher than you in the search engines! Your customers may remember your domain name but forget the extension at the end of your name.

  • It is easy to spell over the phone?
  • Will it easily fit in your advertisements, especially the printed telephone directory or on your business card?
  • Never use zero as this can be confused with the letter - 0 (zero) - O (letter)
  • Once you have decided on the name, are the other extensions taken? The other domain names may just be for adult content websites!
  • You can use hyphens (dash) in your names and even double hyphens - 'your--domain--name.com' although this we do not recommend
  • Do not use a registered trademarked name in your domain name if you are not the owner of the trademark or be ready to be sued. Example: johnsmith-on-ebay.com

We offer affordable domain name registrations, all for two year's registration. Use our domain name checker to see if the domain name you would like is available:

Some Facts

  • If you do not renew your domain name, it will be locked for 45 days and then more than likely, a 'cyber-sitter' or 'domainer' will register the expired domain and charge a fortune to sell it back to you
  • The email address you give when you register your domain name will be visible to the world which means Spam to your In Box. Use a Google Gmail email address instead
  • Marketers will send you email and mail renewal notices for your domain name even if you have not registered the domain through them. This can be very confusing plus they usually charge lot more than most registrars
  • au names can be registered for only two years at a time and cannot be renewed any sooner than 90 days before renewal date
